Season Final

3/28/2016

The season has just really started and it's already over again. All in all it was a great season but also a strange one with a long break due to no snow.
After three weeks in a row on tour I was really tired but it was worth every moment. I've been to Predazzo which is one of my favorite World Cup venues and after that I've been in Schonach for the World Cup Final. The weekend after Schonach I've been in Klingenthal where the COC final took place. A lot of great memories are remaining but also lots of photos were waiting for me. I have to admit that I'm still not done with all of them as there are definitely too much. My goal for next season: taking less pictures. ;) We'll see if it works. At least I'm done with the ones from Schonach and you can also find a lot of pictures from Klingenthal. I will need some more time for the ones from Predazzo but they will follow as soon as possible! So for now enjoy the pictures and have a nice summer break!

Seefeld TRIPLE

This season's highlight was the third edition of the Seefeld TRIPLE as it's a season without World Champion Chips or Olympic Games. For me it was the first time that I was in Seefeld for Nordic Combined. It was a great experience because of an amazing atmosphere and exciting races. The weather was also perfect with sunshine but it was almost too warm - except of the last day when it was snowing all the time and the competition was postponed and in the end we had only one jump and a 10km race instead of 2 jumps and 15km. Due to the weather I decided to leave earlier as planned so there are only pictures from Thursday to Saturday - but the final podium was the same as the days before so I didn't miss too much. ;) Congratulations to the TRIPLE TRIPLE winner Eric Frenzel who is unbeatable in Seefeld.

You can find all pictures as usual in the Nordic Combined section!

Now you can find all pictures of the Skijumping Continentalcup Final in Klingenthal which took place from October 3rd to 4th. It was a great competition weekend with sunshine and some really good jumps. The overall victory went to Daniel Andre Tande from Norway even if he got disqualified on sunday because of his suit.

That was the last competition of the summer season and the upcoming winter season is almost around the corner!

Alpencup Winterberg

Last weekend the Nordic Combined Alpencup stopped in Winterberg. For me it was something like a „home competition“ as I only had to drove 1,5 hours to get there – I’d really like to have that more often! ;) There were two competitions: a 10 km Individual Gundersen on Saturday and a 5 km Sprint on Sunday but I’ve been there only on Saturday. It was really great to see the future athletes of Nordic Combined competing and there were also a few athletes who were competing in the SGP.

Lots of pictures can already be found in the Nordic Combined section but some more will follow soon!

SGP 2015

The Nordic Combined SGP is history and as usual it was a lot of fun. The action started again in Oberwiesenthal with an Teamsprint and an Individual Gundersen. Last year it was really cold and rainy in Oberwiesenthal and this year it was just the other way round – it was sunny and very hot with almost 40 degrees, so the working conditions were really hard and I ended up with a sunburn this time. But all in all it was much nicer than to get wet. ;)

Not only the Nordic Combined guys were competing in Oberwiesenthal – also the skijumping girls had two individual competitions, so it was a busy weekend!

The SGP fort he Nordic Combined athlete continued in Tschagguns (AUT) were I didn’t go and ended with the competitions in Oberstdorf. In Oberstdorf we had the opposite of the weather in Oberwiesenthal – it was raining heavily (luckily only during the Training/PCR) and it got colder day by day. On the last day it felt more like a winter competiton than a SGP. ;)

All in all it was a nice time with lots of great memories and it was also nice to see some new faces in Nordic Combined. It will be interesting to see some of them again in winter.

Now it’s time to start planning the upcoming winter season!

The first pictures oft he SGP and the COC of the girls are already online but there’s still a lot of work left so stay tuned for more! :)

World Cup Oslo

This year was the first time that I had the chance to go to the World Cup in Oslo. It was an amazing experience and I'm glad that I could be part of the Nordic Combined final this year. The conditions for the last race of the season were excellent - sunshine, blue sky and a great atmosphere. It wasn't only the last race of the season, it was also the last race of two of my favorite athletes Jason Lamy Chappuis and Sébastien Lacroix who both ended their career. I always wished that I could watch their last race live and I'm really happy that I was a part of it.

But there wasn't only the Nordic Combined final - there was also the ladies skijumping final and two skijumping competitions of the men. Unfortunately I didn't watch the cross country competitions, but there were definitely too many events and too much to places to discover in the city.

It was also the first time for me that I visited Norway, so I used every minute to explore as many of Oslo as I could. Oslo is a great city and as beautiful as I always thought - even a bit more than I thought. I guess I visited the main sights of the city and I hope to be back soon in this beautiful city that I definitely fell in love with. I also hope to see a bit more of the breathtaking landscape of Norway the next time. My favorite place so far is the Holmenkollen with an awesome view on the city - especially during the sunset.

A lot of pictures are now online - enjoy.

My winter season is now over and I have to concentrate on studying for my final exams. That's why I take a little break but I will be back in the summer with lots of new pictures and I'm already looking forward to the summer competitions! :)

Skijumping COC Brotterode 2015

Yesterday I've been to the COC in Brotterode. For me it's something like my home competition because it's one of the closest comps for me. I only have to drive 1,5 hours to Brotterode. This years COC is probably the last one in Brotterode so this weekend we might have seen the last competitions here. The training on Friday had to be cancelled due to heavy wind, but yesterday we had perfect conditions. It was cold, blue sky and the sun was shining. And it's also unusual for a COC comp that there are so many spectators, but Brotterode is always the most visited COC - since years. I only went there yesterday but I guess this was a good decision, because the second comp today had to be cancelled because of the wind too. So Krysztof Biegun from Poland is maybe the last winner of the skijumping in Brotterode. He won yesterdays comp ahead of Robert Johansson and Joachim Hauer (both Norway). We will see what's happening in Brotterode but we're all hoping that this won't be the last competition there.

Yesterdays photos can be found in the skijumping section! :)

My last trip went to Predazzo/Italy for the Nordic Combined World Cup. It was the first time for me that I've been to a competition abroad. The weekend was full of competitions - two Ind. Gundersen and one Teamsprint. It was a great experience and I just love this place! The weather was also perfect, it was snowing on Friday but on Saturday and Sunday the sun was shining and we had great fun.

Thanks to everyone for this amazing weekend and the hospitality. :)

Pictures of all competitions can be found in the Nordic Combined section!
